EVALUATION OF RESULTS OBTAINED WITH NUTRITIONAL ORIENTATION CONCERNING IMPROVEMENT OF FOOD AND GLICEMIC PROFILE OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETES TYPE 1 AND 11 IN AMBULATORY ATTENDANCE

Resumo: The aim of this paper was to evaluate the results obtained with the nutritional orientation of ten patients with diabetes mellitus, two of them with type 1 and eight with type 11, in ambulatory attendance at the Hospital das Clínicas, Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, in a period of three months. During the assessment, data concerning anthropometry, alimentary anamnesis, energetic needs, micro and macronutrients biochemical examinations were collected. During the study it was observed that only one patient increased his caloric intake but seventy per cent increased fat intake and ninety per cent decreased carbohydrate intake, while only thirty per cent improved meal fractionation, fifty per cent maintained the Énsulin dose, eighty per cent decreased blood glycemia, although without reaching the recommended rate, and twenty per cent joined sports practice. From these results it was observed low adherence of patients to the improvement of food habits and glycemic control through dietetic orientation.

From these results it was observed low adherence of patients to the improvement of food habits and glycemic control through dietetic orientation.O presente estudo teve por finalidade avaliar, pelo período de três meses, os resultados obtidos com a orientação nutricional de dez pacientes com diabetes mellitus, sendo dois pacientes do tipo I e oito pacientes do tipo II, em seguimento ambulatorial no Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto. Durante a avaliação foram coletados dados referentes a antropometria, anamnese alimentar, necessidades energéticas, micro e macronutrientes e exames bioquímicos. Observou-se no decorrer do estudo, que apenas um paciente aumentou sua ingestão calórica significativamente, porém 70% apresentaram elevação na ingestão lipídica e 90% diminuição na ingestão de carboidratos; apenas 30% dos pacientes melhoraram o fracionamento das refeições, 50% mantiveram a dose de insulina e 80% diminuíram a glicemia, porém sem atingir a taxa recomendada: 20% aderiram à prática esportiva.
