Resumo: | Examines 209 references concerning investigations about reading of atypical learners categorized into the following areas: Visually Impaired; Hearing Impaired; Mentally Retarded; Neurologically Impaired/Brain Damaged and Other Atypical Learners. The scientific production in Neurologicaly Impaired area is significantly greater than the others but it is less sofisticated in methodology. The studies of Mentally Retarded were specially refined in scientific methodology. There were significant correlation between age of the subjects of studies with Mentaly Retarded and Hearing Impaired, both take children as subjects most frequently. No significant correlations were noted in the comparactions about methodologicaJ development. |

No significant correlations were noted in the comparactions about methodologicaJ development.O trabalho examina 209 referências relativas a pesquisas sobre leitura de aprendizes atípicos, categorizadas nas seguintes áreas: Deficiência Visual, Deficiência Auditiva, Retardo Mental; Distúrbios Neurológicos/Lesão Cerebral e Outros Leitores Atípicos. Significantemente a produção cientifica na área de Distúrbios Neurológicos é maior que a das outras, mas é a menos sofisticada em metodologia. Os estudos sobre Retardo Mental são os mais refinados em metodologia cientifica. Há correlação significante entre idade dos sujeitos dos estudos de Retardo Mental e de Deficiência Auditiva, ambos usam crianças como sujeitos mais frequentemente.
