LATE ADOPTION: A COMPARATIVE VISION

Resumo: The subject of the research was to investigative if some differences appeared among the adopters who opted for late adoption and these who make conventional adoptions, as faras their choiecs are concerned, to the process they go it hough and the consequences of the adoption. The sample consisted of 82, being 27 subjects late adopters and 55 babyadopters of they were submitted to a questionnaire about adoption, elaborated with baseed in the literature and in the instrument on Weber (1997) for adoptine families. The results were analysed, having as parameter the c² test. They indicated the absence of the main differences between the two groups. However, some distinctions appear as terms of frequency of answers, especially regarding afraid in adopting children from institutions, the way of living of children with other families or in institutions and with the process of adoptation.

A amostra consistiu de 82 sujeitos, sendo 27 adotantes tardios e 55 adotantes de bebês, submetidos a um questionário sobre adoção, elaborado com base na literatura sobre o tema e nos referenciais do instrumento de Weber (1997) para famílias adotivas. Os resultados obtidos foram analisados tomando-se como parâmetro o teste de qui-quadrado (c²), o que indicou ausência de diferenças significativas entre os dois grupos.
