Resumo: This essay was established as a preliminary synthesis review of Ignacio Martín Baró - on psychosocial trauma, considering some of his works. It is intended to highlight the critical design within the Social Psychology of Liberation, and to achieve this critical sense reflected on the idea of extreme situation, also prepared by the author, as a category that explains and incorporates their understanding of trauma. The limit-situation category is subsequently presented as a constitutive dimension of preventive intervention for the school psychologist in the midst of the work that has been carried out by the Research Group Evaluation and Psychosocial Intervention Prevention, Community and Liberation at Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas, Brazil.
