Resumo: Theaim of this poperwos to discuss ospects of opplying o methodology to evoluo te usobility in digitol librories. A methodology thot deols w1th the systemotization of o usability ossessment tool for digital librories wos used. The oim wos to investigo te the level of wobility of the Virtual Heolth Ubrory, opplying o method thot meosures effectiveness, efficiency ond users' sotisfoction when using the digitol librory. Methodo/ogicolly, it is chorocterized os o formal testof usobility. This test consisted of o list of ten tosks to be performed while using the website of the Virtual Heolth Líbrory ond the Ukert scole wos used to ossess users' sotisfoction. A quontitotive opprooch bosed on descriptive stotistics wos odopted to onolyze the results. The test wos opplied between December 5 ond December 21, 2011, ot the computer lob of the Heolth Sciences Center of the Universidade Federal da Paraíba. The results of the usobility test enobled us to meosure the levei of usobility of the Virtual Heolth Librory, which is considered to provide a high levei of usability.

The results of the usobility test enobled us to meosure the levei of usobility of the Virtual Heolth Librory, which is considered to provide a high levei of usability.Este artigo aborda aspectos relativos à aplicação de metodologia para avaliação de usabilidade em bibliotecas digitais, para isso, adota-se uma metodologia que trata da sistematização de Jm instrumento de avaliação de usabilidade de bibliotecas digitais. O objetivo é investigar o nível de usabilidade da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, aplicando uma metodologia que mensura eficácia, eficiência e satisfação dos usuários ao usarem a biblioteca digital. Metodologicamente, caracteriza-se como um tes:e formal de usabilidade. O teste foi composto por uma lista de dez tarefas a serem realizadas com uma escala de Likert para conhecer a satisfação dos usuários, utilizando-se para isso o site da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde. Adotou-se uma abordagem quantitativa, baseada na estatística descritiva, para análise dos resultados. O teste foi aplicado entre os dias 5 e 21 de dezembro de 2011, no laboratório de informática do Centro de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade Federal da Paraíba.
