Within the context of the emergence of indigenous literature, the aim of the paper is to introduce the relevant aspects of the development of bibliographic representation of Brazilian indigenous literature to ensure a worthy document representation. This kind of literature can be understood as any oral or written creation, be it collective or individual, established, designed and structured by cultural standards and stylistic elements of indigenous people. The aim is to discuss the relationship between indigenous literary works and aspects related to their bibliographic representation. The methodology used was research at online public access catalogs to analyze bibliographic records. The bibliographic exploratory methodology was used to collect anthropological concepts and data on indigenous groups in Brazil and the theoretical background was based on descriptive representation, particularly in the works of Mey and Silveira. It was concluded that the librarian is the key player to ensure adequate and faithful representation of documents of indigenous works to relate them to other items in the catalog of an information unit, exposing their informative potential.
