LOVE, EROTICS, MYSTIC AND ETHICS: THE HUMAN SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

Resumo: Considering the close relationship between meaning in life and spirituality, I seek with this article to investigate how human spiritual development takes place, its intimate relationship with the constitution of subjectivity and the importance of the phenomena of love and eroticism in this process. The theoretical framework is located at the interface between philosophy, psychoanalysis and Christian theology. I use narrative review as a methodology, through which texts by the following thinkers were selected: Hans Balthasar, Jean-Luc Marion, Lévinas, Plato, Freud and Edith Stein. Love relationships (eros-ágape), above all, unconditional love between parents and children, are fundamental for the constitution of subjectivity. Problems in this constitution keep the subject fixated on the search for the satisfaction of narcissistic needs. When the subject feels sufficiently loved (in the qualitative sense), he/she can then open him/herself to the spiritual dimension in the simultaneous awakening of the mystical and ethical conscience, taking a position from your personal core.

O referencial teórico situa-se numa interface entre a filosofia, a psicanálise e a teologia cristã. Utilizo como metodologia a revisão narrativa, por meio da qual foram selecionados textos dos seguintes pensadores: Hans Balthasar, Marion, Lévinas, Platão, Freud e Edith Stein. As relações amorosas (eros-ágape), sobretudo, o amor incondicional entre pais e filhos/as, são fundamentais para a constituição da subjetividade.
