STUDIES ON POPULAR RELIGIONS IN THE AREA OF RELIGIOUS SCIENCES AND THEOLOGY IN BRAZIL

Resumo: Popular religions in Brazil represent a complex synthesis of different and important aspects that make up our culture and permeate our social, political and economic relations. The Area of Religious Sciences and Theology in Brazil is called to respond to the challenge to the demand to investigate them. This article aims to present a brief overview of how this theme is present in the Area. Based on information available on the websites of the PPGs themselves, CAPES, CNPq and events in the Area, the article is structured in four parts: Popular religions in the sciences of religion in Brazil; the studies of popular religions within the scope of the Graduate Programs in Religious Sciences in Brazil; methodological approaches; Challenges posed to the studies of popular religion in Brazil. The article points to the importance of keeping studies on popular religions in the Area and related areas.

A Área de Ciências da Religião e Teologia no Brasil é chamada a responder à demanda de investigá-las. Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar um breve panorama de como esta temática se faz presente na Área. Com base em informações disponíveis nos sites dos próprios PPGs, da CAPES, do CNPQ e de eventos da Área, o artigo estrutura-se em quatro partes: as religiões populares nas ciências da religião no Brasil; os estudos de religiões populares no âmbito dos programas de pós-graduação em ciências da religião no Brasil; abordagens metodológicas; desafios postos aos estudos de religiões populares no Brasil.
