The sacred rituals in the Brazilian Semi-arid are configured as a multiplicity of social and human knowledge that constitute this environment. In this work we sought to analyze the spiritual dimensions experienced in the Brazilian Semi-arid, with reference to two territories: one situated in the Sub-medium São Fran­cisco: the island of Massangano, a rural Black community belonging to the mu­nicipality of Petrolina-PE, while the other is the quilombo of Laje dos Negros, in the municipality of Campo Formoso-BA. The methodology used here in the selection of research participants was the Snowball technique. The results show that the religious expressions of the places studied encompass both profane and religious values and have generated, over time, their own forms of resistance to external influences and, consequently, protection of traditional knowledge in these communities. The religious manifestations have cultural symbology repli­cated from traditions and memory, thus constituting the identity of the members who make up the two communities studied.
