Asphaltic paving is one of the axes of claims by social groups for human well-being rights; and that reverberates in health conditions, mobility, sense of social belonging, reduction of insecurity, among other aspects that generate social cohesion. The objective was to analyze the paving works carried out in the city of Araguaína/TO, considering that the municipal decisions of where and how to invest reaffirm the uses of the city and criteria on investmentpriorities. For that, research was carried out with keywords - asphalt, asphalt mesh, paving - in two localonline news portals, AFnotícias and Araguaína Notícias, in the period between 2013-2022. We found 72news items that went through content analysis with the help of the WebQDA software and coded into 4categories: asphalt (re)surfacing, accountability for problems, complaints and science as a response. It wasidentified that in the first years the works favored central regions of the city and that there are more complaintsin the more peripheral sectors, which increases intra-urban inequalities, however with the passage of time the works reached other regions of Araguaína.
