VERA TRIUMPHO: INTERSECTIONS BETWEEN WRITTEN PRODUCTIONS, AFRO-CATHOLIC SPIRITUALITY AND ANTI-RACIST EDUCATION IN THE 1980s AND 1990s

Resumo: The article addresses the role of black women in actions that transform education and school and university curricula from the perspective of teaching African andAfro-Brazilian history and culture, considering the actions of educator Vera Regina Santos Triumpho. These actions are observed both in associations of the organized blacksocial movement, and in institutional educational spaces, through activism in Black Pastoral Agents. It analytically focuses on the educator’s writings, highlighting her linkwith Afro-Catholic religiosity and which is added to the foundation of anti-racist education in the 1980s and 1990s. It is concluded that the political and pedagogical project,made official in the National Curricular Guidelines for the Education of Ethnic-Racial Relations, is the result of the work of the Black Movement in articulation with thinkersendowed with courage to denounce the subordination of black people, their culture and religion. , in the teaching processes limited to the white canon and its one-dimensional version of history.

Essas ações são observadas tanto em agremiações do movimento social negro organizado, quanto em espaços educativos institucionais, através do ativismo nos Agentes de Pastoral Negros. Enfocam-se analiticamente as escritas da educadora, destacando-se seu vínculo com a religiosidade afrocatólica e que se agrega na fundamentação da educação antirracista nos anos 1980 e 1990.
