Resumo: | This work shortly presents the history of the Perus district, located in the northwest zone of the city of São Paulo, to demonstrate that, since the emergence of social movements in the territory, women have always been present. Their articulation began with the struggle of the workers of the Brazilian Company of Portland Cement Perus. Even though there were no women on the industry's staff, they were present in the two strikes organized by the workers, in 1958 and in 1962. The strikers and their families received the nickname “queixadas”, which they adopted as a symbol of active non-violence or permanent firmness. Women were protagonists in strike’s 1962, because male members of the family were on strike, they sustaned your homes. Following the example of the women's “queixadas” in 1970, the number of mothers' clubs in Perus exploded, as a grassroots social movement they fought for their rights. |
