Resumo: The present work proposes to problematize the relationship between the State and repressive politics from the selected works of Karl Marx and Lenin. From Marx, the main texts used will be The Civil War in France (2011a), Class Struggles in France (2012) and The Dispossessed (2017); Lenin's The State and the Revolution (2011), On the State (2019) and What is to be done? (1988). Other authors' texts were also consulted and used in order to subsidize the present discussion. The choice to scrutinize the political theory of the State in the thinking of Marx and Lenin is justified both by the importance of systematically thinking about the State in capitalist society, and by the confusion or breadth of definitions that such concepts carry from different traditions and interpreters inspired by the theories. from Marx.
