Resumo: My overall goal is to explain how moral evil could get into a good wholly universe created by God. Given the traditional Christian belief that God created the angels entirely good and some of them fell into sin through the use of freedom, I try to present Thomas Aquinas' account in the Summa Theologica about the first sin in a coherent way. To do this, I turn to the notion of akrasia present in Socrates and Aristotle in order to clarify Thomas' explanation of the subject in question. Then, I present Thomas's interpretation of akrasia and the difficulties that arise for a coherent account of the first sin. And finally, from a compilation of some texts from the Summa Theologica and On Evil of Thomas, I offer a coherent explanation of the choice of Lucifer, that being created entirely good, rebelled against God.

Dada a crença cristã tradicional de que Deus criou os anjos inteiramente bons e alguns deles caíram em pecado pelo uso da liberdade, busco apresentar de maneira coerente o relato de Tomás de Aquino na Suma Teológica sobre o primeiro pecado. Para tal, recorro a noção de akrasia presente em Sócrates e Aristóteles com a finalidade de esclarecer a explicação de Tomás sobre o assunto em questão. Em seguida, apresento a interpretação de Tomás sobre a akrasia e as dificuldades que surgem para um relato coerente do primeiro pecado.
