Resumo: Hannah Arendt afirma que o totalitarismo é uma forma de governo sem precedentes na história política. Seu livro publicado em 1951, As origens do totalitarismo, pode ser lido como uma grande defesa dessa tese, demonstrada com uma argumentação potente. O presente trabalho visa ressaltar alguns dos elementos que atestam a originalidade da análise arendtiana, em especial, o problema da superfluidade, do terror, da ideologia e da solidão.
