Resumo: | Some people are more vulnerable to mental suffering during the social isolation imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. We aimed to understand the subjective experience of isolation of those individuals. Seven open interviews were conducted with women who self-declared experimenting intense mental suffering during this period. We applied a Thematic Analysis of the interviews, as proposed by Virginia Braun and Victoria Clarke. This method allowed us to verify that mental suffering arise and is also intensified during isolation. We evidenced: feelings of fear in the face of risks and uncertainties; compulsive and harmful behaviors such as substance use, overeating, shopping, and cleaning; resentment with respect to the lack of cooperation to fight the pandemic; overload due to long working hours at home; inability to concentrate; and acute panic disorder. |
