Resumo:  The object of the article is to present, in summary terms, the environmental and organizational risks associated with the practice of Nursing; profession that is historically and culturally dominated by the female gender; as an effect of the charges attributed to the woman and related to the act of caring. The gender perspective, therefore, appears relevant in Nursing. Such risks, superimposed on the responsibilities that still fall on women in the sexual division of work, culminate in a fertile field for the outbreak of mental disorders and Burnout Syndrome. And, the recent, but long-delayed COVID-19’s Pandemic exaggerated the potential of these risks on women nurses. The article was based on research and reports from the health area and official organizations, combining them with the normative context. Legal and political measures are suggested to mitigate the impact of post-COVID mental damage, especially for women.
