Algorithms, understood here as the source code of new information and communication technologies, are increasingly present in the most diverse spheres of the modern world. Its wide use for decision making affects, directly and indirectly, the lives of millions of people, raising the importance of technical discussion about the need for its regulation, especially when considering its potential to restrict the user's freedom of decision, in addition to reinforce inequalities or insert discriminatory biases. In this context, the objective of this article is to analyze how it would be possible to regulate virtual space, in order to make it more secure, without, however, preventing the advance of technologies, so important in the modern world. In view of the problem presented, it is concluded that there is a need to establish a world authority to inspect the algorithms, as well as public awareness that the algorithms need some regulation by the State, in order to make them less obscure and that they provide the results as promising as expected. The main theoretical references of the research were the works of the professors Dr. Lawrence Lessig, from Harvard and Wolfgang Schulz, from the University of Hamburg, in addition to the deductive method and bibliographic research.
