Abstract: The article discusses the articulations between gender and work in the experiences in the struggle for the right to the city from the narratives of women members of the Ocupe Estelita Movement, in Recife/PE. At first, we had a discussion about the category of “Subject of Law” in the face of these women's experience, problematizing the universalist formalism of this category based on the reality of social inequalities. Secondly, we problematize the relations between social class and gender, intertwined with racial relations, in the struggle for the right to the city. The methodology, inspired by historical dialectical materialism, makes use of field research in which the main corpus consists of interviews with three women, Silvia, Isabela and Ângela, who were part of the Ocupe Estelita Movement between the years 2013 to 2019. The theoretical framework of the research transits between the fields of studies on Right to the City (Lefebvre and Harvey), on Feminism, Gender and Sexuality (Davis and McClintock) and Pachukanis-based critical legal studies in dialogue with feminist and anti-racist criticism in the legal field.
