Resumo: Taking into account the verification of the status and role of the category of memory in today's world, this article analyzes the possible links between memory, democracy and exception, and human rights. This analysis will imply, at the same time, the examination of the following related questions: first, the relationship that memory maintains with the construction of a political regime, the problem of truth and the production of truth and negationism; second, democracy as a political regime, the tension between democracy and authoritarianism in the construction and validity of our political regimes, and the theory of the exception; thirdly, the relationship between the democratic regime and human rights, the configuration of human rights in the current world and regional political scene, the role that they can play in relation to the issues mentioned and the potentialities that they may have based on the relationships established between them.
