Resumo: | This article aims at justifying and evaluating the political theology as an academic discipline. Researchers from different areas of knowledge, among which the Sciences of Religion(s), have been discussing the polysemy of the concept of political theology. Considering the publications on the subject from the 1980s on, it is possible to notice that this concept usually refers to the religious interference in public interest issues. It also deals with the political authority discourse based on divine revelation, as well as the influence of theology on the public space, among other approaches. This article considers the political theology as an academic discipline that investigates and evaluates the intersection, interrelationship, and mutual influence of religion, theology, and politics and their consequences for the public space. The methodology adopted is the textual interpretation of authors from different areas such as philosophy, theology, religious studies, political science, history, among others. We discuss the political theology based on its different theoretical-methodological positions, analyzing its distinct conceptions. We start from the hypothesis that the political theology can, as an academic discipline and given its multi and interdisciplinary character, contribute to the understanding of a complex theme such as the relationship between religion, theology and politics. |

We start from the hypothesis that the political theology can, as an academic discipline and given its multi and interdisciplinary character, contribute to the understanding of a complex theme such as the relationship between religion, theology and politics.O artigo tem por objetivo justificar e avaliar a teologia política como disciplina de estudos e de pesquisas. Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais2020-07-10info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttp://periodicos.pucminas.br/index.php/interacoes/article/view/2120010.5752/P.1983-2478.2020v15n1p12-41INTERAÇÕES; Vol 15 No 1 (2020); 12-41INTERAÇÕES; Vol. 15 Núm. 1 (2020); 12-41INTERAÇÕES; v. 15 n. 1 (2020); 12-411983-2478reponame:Interações (Uberlândia.
