Resumo: Studies show that in situations of stress and suffering, people generally use strategies of a spiritual/religious nature as a coping resource. This study aimed to verify the relationship between spirituality/religiosity and quality of life of the caregivers of people with intellectual disabilities. The integrative literature review was used. Searches were performed in SCIELO, PEPSIC, BDTD, VHL, LILACS, MEDLINE and PUBMED, with a period between 2000 and 2019. Twenty-two studies were selected for analysis. The findings highlight that cultural, spiritual and/or religious beliefs are among the main factors that interfere with health and quality of life of this population. Spirituality was positively pointed out, while religiosity was ambivalent. The results suggest the multidisciplinary approach to offer comprehensive care in this context.

Este estudio tuvo como objetivo verificar la relación entre espiritualidad/religiosidad y calidad de vida de los cuidadores de personas con discapacidad intelectual. Se utilizó la revisión integradora de la literatura. Las búsquedas se realizaron en SCIELO, PEPSIC, BDTD, BVS, LILACS, MEDLINE y PUBMED, con un corte temporal entre 2000 y 2019. Se seleccionaron 22 estudios para el análisis. Los resultados destacan que las creencias culturales, espirituales y/o religiosas se encuentran entre los principales factores que interfieren en la salud y la calidad de vida de esta población. La espiritualidad se señaló de manera positiva, mientras que la religiosidad se presentó de manera ambivalente. Los resultados sugieren un enfoque multidisciplinar para ofrecer una atención integral en este contexto.  Estudos mostram que em situações de estresse e sofrimento, geralmente as pessoas utilizam estratégias de natureza espiritual/religiosa como recurso de enfrentamento. Este estudo objetivou verificar a relação entre espiritualidade/religiosidade e qualidade de vida das(os) cuidadoras(es) de pessoas com deficiência intelectual. Utilizou-se a revisão integrativa de literatura. Foram realizadas buscas na SCIELO, PEPSIC, BDTD, BVS, LILACS, MEDLINE e PUBMED, com recorte temporal entre 2000 e 2019. Foram selecionados 22 estudos para análise. Os achados ressaltam que as crenças culturais, espirituais e/ou religiosas estão entre os principais fatores que interferem na saúde e qualidade de vida desta população. A espiritualidade foi apontada de modo positivo, enquanto a religiosidade apresentou-se de modo ambivalente.
