In Brazil, the dialogue between theology and decolonial thought is restricted to academic environments in a timid and embryonic way. Decolonial theories require a deeper understanding by a theology willing to engage in a more meaningful dialogue for the construction of a different world. This article intends to encourage this exchange of knowledge. Decolonial thinking teaches that awareness of the colonizing mechanisms of power, of the being and of knowledge does not suffice. We must move forward and propose a decolonial approach capable of effecting a genuine liberation. The following paper is, therefore, the fruit of the encounter between theology and decolonial thought to propose new places for the enunciation of the Christian faith. The article is divided into two parts. The first raises issues to be answered by a theology that is open to dialogue with other areas of knowledge and aims to develop a legitimate public task. The second part focuses on the fruitful dialogues between decoloniality and theological doing. It expresses the awareness of marginalized spaces and epistemological ruptures that represent challenges for theology.
