Since the year 1950 this celebration is carried out by the local Congado group, as a way of paying homage to its patron saint. The celebrations performed by the Congado show great renown in the scene of popular religious manifestations of the state of Minas Gerais, preserving the traditions that refer to a slaveholding past of Colonial Brazil.
