Resumo: This article discusses the aging of female and male bodies through the short stories “A égua”, by Marcela Serrano, and “As tardes de um viúvo aposentado”, by, Teolinda Gersão. In the text, there is a debate about the different social implications of aging in both sexes, considering the body as a socio-historical production in order to show how patriarchy influences both its shape and its behavior. Thus, in the discursive and narrative construction of the texts, the body is configured as the axis on which the division between female and male social roles is built and problematized.
