Os dilemas bioéticos e a nova eugenia na contemporaneidade

Resumo: The objective here is to examine the configuration of the medical-eugenic discourse in contrast between past and present. To do so, based theoretically and methodologically on Foucauldian studies, a historical-documental review was carried out that articulates the results of a master's research already completed and partial conclusions of a doctoral project under development. In view of this, it should be noted that the theory created by Francis Galton in 1875, since its inception has led to the acquisition of scientificity in the social environment. In the nineteenth century ideology, there are ambiguous similarities between eugenics and education. According to Renato Kehl, it was through the eugenicization of the “race” that the country would rise economically; however, Edgar Roquette-Pinto opposed it justifying that eugenication would occur through the improvement of habits via education. Nowadays, it is observed that the practices present in nineteenth-century eugenics still permeate in other ways the new eugenics – liberal. It is also noted that the search for the biogenetic improvement of offspring by wealthy families and the bioethical principles involved in these processes still persist in certain social strata and tend to resignify the structural relationships in life in society.

Para tanto, fundamentada teórica-metodologicamente nos estudos foucaultianos, realizou-se uma revisão histórica-documental que articula resultados de uma pesquisa de mestrado já finalizada e conclusões parciais de um projeto de doutorado em desenvolvimento. Diante disso, destaca-se que a teoria criada por Francis Galton, em 1875, desde seu início ensejou adquirir cientificidade no meio social. No ideário novecentista, observam-se aproximações ambíguas entre a eugenia e a educação. Segundo supunha Renato Kehl, por intermédio da eugenização da “raça” é que o país ascenderia economicamente; conquanto, Edgar Roquette-Pinto o contrapunha justificando que a eugenização se daria através da melhoria de hábitos via educação. Na atualidade, observam-se que as práticas presentes na eugenia novecentista ainda permeiam de outros modos a nova eugenia – liberal.
