Este artigo apresenta pesquisa em andamento sobre a Coleção Arduíno Bolivar iniciada no ano de 2010. A Coleção que recebe o nome do seu formador, ex-professor da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais – UFMG –, foi doada para a Instituição em 1962. Atualmente é uma das coleções que compõem a Divisão de Coleções Especiais da Biblioteca Universitária da UFMG. O artigo inicia contextualizando a estrutura dos acervos bibliográficos raros e especiais na Universidade. Em seguida aponta um dos caminhos da pesquisa: o pressuposto teórico para a avaliação da Coleção. Apresenta breve biografia do professor Arduíno Bolivar. Descreve os momentos distintos vivenciados pela biblioteca do professor, estruturando seu histórico por meio de fases. E, finalmente, detalha algumas características da Coleção, reveladas a partir de seus livros. AbstractThis article presents research on the Arduíno Bolivar Collection, held during the years of 2010 and 2011. The Collection, which receives the name of its creator, a former professor of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), was donated to the Institution in 1962. Nowadays it’s one of the collections that compose the Division of Special Collections of the University Library of UFMG. This paper begins by contextualizing the structure of the rare and special collections at the university. Then it shows one of the research pathways: a theoretical assumption for the evaluation of the Collection. It also presents Arduíno Bolivar’s biography and his library. It describes the distinct moments experienced by the library, pointing out its history through phases. And, finally, it details some characteristics of the Collection, developed from its books.Keywords: Libraries; History; Arduíno Bolivar; Libraries; Special Collections.
