Resumo: The text analyze the considerations about the silence around the childhood in the documents (official and the ordinary ones) produced in Minas Gerais between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and discussed by historiography, and we will make some remarks about this issue. We will try to present reflections on this lack of information related to children in that context, but our intention is not establish conclusives answers to such questions, but indicate that they were addressed by these documents and their importance was underlined even when they are details in the sources. To guide us in the construction of such questions and to exemplify the hypotheses raised we will use several types of sources, such as records of innocents' death, wanton, travelers' reports, wills and also we will discuss the incommon presence of children in painted ex-votos. This diversity of objects considered aims to present, therefore, the different possibilities of approaching childhood in the past.

This diversity of objects considered aims to present, therefore, the different possibilities of approaching childhood in the past.O texto tem por objetivo analisar as considerações sobre o silêncio em torno da criança na documentação (oficial e cotidiana) produzida nas Minas entre os séculos XVIII e XIX e discutido pela historiografia, e traçar algumas observações acerca dessa constatação. Procuraremos, assim, apresentar reflexões sobre essa ausência de informações relativas à infância naquele contexto, mas sem a pretensão de que com essas consigamos estabelecer respostas conclusivas para tais questões, mas com a intenção de mostrar que elas foram abordadas por essas fontes e que, mesmo quando nos pormenores da documentação, sua importância era demarcada. Para auxiliar na construção de tais questionamentos e exemplificar as hipóteses levantadas utilizaremos diversos tipos de fontes, tais como registros de óbitos de inocentes, devassas, relatos de viajantes, testamentos e discutiremos também a presença pouco comum de crianças nos ex-votos pintados.
