Resumo: This text intends to show the misunderstandings, deficiencies and inaccuracies of the semiotic theory of C. S. Peirce so used in research on images, texts and expressions in general in Brazil. The author problematizes certain key concepts of this theory and preaches the need for a rigorous investigation of his writings. To this end, he sets out to begin this task by discussing the concept of "interpretant."
