Resumo: | Using the compilation film as a methodological and delimiting element, this article aims to present and investigate a theoretical framework capable of supporting an investigation between historical imagination and the functioning of image and sound archives nowadays. Our analysis revolves around the reappropriation of public and private “archive images” carried out increasingly by these audiovisual productions. It is a gesture that meets the logic of image archives in contemporary culture. Our goal is to propose a discussion on the historical imagination that the montages between these heterogeneous images give rise to. As a theoretical framework, we rely on an archaeological tradition surrounding the fields of study of cinema and communication, with an emphasis on the thought of Wolfgang Ernst, Vilém Flusser and Catherine Russel. |

Nuestro análisis gira en torno a la reapropiación de “imágenes de archivo” públicas y privadas que realiza, cada vez más, este tipo de películas. Es un gesto que responde a la lógica de los archivos de imágenes en la cultura contemporánea. Nuestro objetivo es proponer una discusión sobre el imaginario histórico que dan lugar a los montajes entre estas imágenes heterogéneas. Como marco teórico, nos apoyamos en una tradición arqueológica en torno a los campos de estudio del cine y la comunicación, con énfasis en el pensamiento de Wolfgang Ernst, Vilém Flusser y Catherine Russel.Utilizando o filme de compilação como elemento metodológico e delimitador, este artigo pretende apresentar e investigar um arcabouço teórico capaz de respaldar uma investigação entre imaginação histórica e o funcionamento dos arquivos de imagem e som na contemporaneidade. Nossa análise gira em torno das reapropriações das “imagens de arquivo” públicas e privadas realizadas, cada vez mais, por esse tipo de filme. Trata-se de um gesto que vai ao encontro de certa lógica dos arquivos de imagem na cultura contemporânea. Nosso objetivo é propor uma discussão sobre a imaginação histórica que as montagens entre essas imagens heterogêneas ensejam.
