Resumo: Belo Horizonte, founded on December 12, 1897, was a city created by decree and designed by a construction commission to be the new capital of the state. Its construction within a context of transformation, marked by the Proclamation of the Republic and the attempt to modernize the Brazilian economy and society, was linked to the feeling and the crisis of Minas identity.
