Images of nature in the Folha de S. Paulo and O Estado de S. Paulo newspapers

Resumo: In the field of the production and circulation of meanings by the media and in the approach of the journalistic phenomenon from studies of the imaginary, the article takes as object of analysis the images of nature in printed journalistic texts. As methodologies, the adapted combination of Gilbert Durand's two methods, mitochristic and mitoanalysis, was adopted from the epistemological perspective. In the operational perspective, the printed editions of two national daily newspapers, Folha de S. Paulo (1995 -2012) and O Estado de S. Paulo (1995-2012), were taken as an empirical object. No distinction was made between sections of the editorials or journalistic genres, observing images of nature present in the most diverse news situations, whether in economics or tourism, short story, signed article or editorial. In total, 915 news units were worked qualitatively and quantitatively. The research aimed to visualize sets of images in the Brazilian press that have been orienting or expressing, in the last three decades, the Brazilian society's thinking about nature, about the natural world.

Como metodologías, se adoptó, por la perspectiva epistemológica, la combinación adaptada de dos métodos de Gilbert Durand, la mitocrítica y el mitoanálisis. En la parte operativa se tomaron como objeto empírico las ediciones impresas de dos diarios de circulación nacional, Folha de S. Paulo (1995 -2012) y O Estado de S. Paulo (1995-2012). No se hizo distinción entre secciones editoriales y ni entre géneros periodísticos, observando imágenes de naturaleza presentes en las más diversas situaciones noticiosas, sean en materia de economía o de turismo, noticia corta, artículo firmado o editorial. En total, 915 unidades noticiosas fueron trabajadas cualitativa y cuantitativamente. La investigación pretendió visualizar conjuntos de imágenes en la prensa brasileña que están orientando o expresando, en las últimas tres décadas, el pensamiento de la sociedad brasileña al respecto de la naturaleza, del mundo natural. RESUMO: Inserido no campo da produção e circulação de sentidos pela mídia e na abordagem do fenômeno jornalístico a partir de estudos do imaginário, o artigo toma como objeto de análise as imagens de natureza em textos jornalísticos impressos. Como metodologias, adotou-se, pela perspectiva epistemológica, a combinação adaptada de dois métodos de Gilbert Durand, a mitocrítica e a mitanálise. Pela perspectiva operacional, tomou-se como objeto empírico as edições impressas de dois jornais diários de circulação nacional, Folha de S. Paulo (1995 -2012) e O Estado de S. Paulo (1995-2012). Não foi feita distinção entre editorias e nem entre gêneros jornalísticos, observando imagens de natureza presentes nas mais diversas situações noticiosas, fossem em matéria de economia ou turismo, notícia curta, artigo assinado ou editorial. No total, 915 unidades noticiosas foram trabalhadas qualitativa e quantitativamente.
