Resumo: This paper brings the results of a research made with 52 professionals working on governmental press offices and public communication all over the country, and tries to outline the activity profile and perspectives. The researched group integrates the Brazilian Public Communication Network, composed mainly by journalists, on this paper called “public journalists”. Starting from the concept of public communication, we discuss the Brazilian public agencies communication under the point of view of public interest and the information rights.

O grupo pesquisado integra a Rede Brasileira de Comunicação Pública, sendo formado em sua maioria por jornalistas, neste trabalho denominados “jornalistas públicos”.
