Beyond the fixity of drawing: pictorical representation and visual narrative in graphic humor

Resumo: | We intend to examine the relationships between the representation of actions and the fixed forms of designs, departing from a look upon the narratives potentialities of visual aspects of traditional daily strips: we are especially concerned with the complementarity between the stylistic traits of caricature - as a matrix for the design of characters – and the very narrative structure of visual gags – as a privileged model for the representation of actions proper to the comedic genres of narratives. In this perspective, the morphology of visual humor – symbolized by caricature – is best addressed once their humorous grace is considered as a part of the general problem of a "lacunar" mor "experssive" style of pictorial representation: the association of such a style with a poetic approach towards laughter in caricature is instrumental to the achievement of visual narrative. |

Desde tal perspectiva, la morfología del humor visual –simbolizada por la caricatura– es mejor abordada solamente si su gracia humorística fuera considerada como parte del problema general de un estilo “lagunoso” o “expresivo” de la caricatura: al asociarla con un abordaje poético de la risa, la incompletud de la composición icónica en la caricatura es instrumental para la realización de la narratividad visual.Temos a intenção de examinar as relações entre a representação de ações e as formas fixas de desenhos, a partir de um olhar sobre as potencialidades narrativas de aspectos visuais das tradicionais tiras diárias: estamos especialmente preocupados com a complementaridade entre os traços estilísticos da caricatura - como um matriz para o desenho de personagens – e a estrutura narrativa mesma das gags visuais - como o modelo privilegiado para a representação das ações próprias ao gênero cômico.
