Observatories of accidents and violence: the training of health professionals for the implementation of a surveillance system

Resumo: The present article has the objective to present the experience of a training of professionals from the health area who are connected to the Observatory of Accidents and Violence in Rio Grande do Sul from an interinstitucional partnership between the Health State Secretary and the Faculty of Social Work of PUCRS. The observatory is constituted as an epidemiological vigilance system, developed and implemented by the Health State Secretary for the vigilance of the harms resulted from external causes and it is structured through a information network of hospitals of reference in the provision of services for accidents and violence related situations. The methods were comprised of workshops, case studies and experience reports which resulted in the collective construction of mediation and strategies of monitoring, follow-up and evaluation of the professional work practices from 21 hospitals and 64 professionals from different areas. An evaluation with the participants were carried out and it was concluded that the training process has promoted a greater commitment of the participants in the implementation of the epidemiological surveillance system which contributes to an improvement of their professional practices in their multiple dimensions. Surveillance.O presente artigo tem por objetivo apresentar a experiência de capacitação dos profissionais da área da saúde, vinculados ao Observatório de Acidentes e Violências no Rio Grande do Sul, a partir da articulação interinstitucional entre a Secretaria Estadual de Saúde e a Faculdade de Serviço Social da PUCRS. O observatório constitui-se em um sistema de vigilância epidemiológica, desenvolvido e implementado pela Secretaria Estadual da Saúde, para a vigilância dos agravos decorrentes de causas externas, estruturado a partir de uma rede informatizada de hospitais-referência no atendimento de situações decorrentes de acidentes e violência. A metodologia utilizada foram oficinas, estudos de casos e relatos de experiências, resultando na construção coletiva de mediações e estratégias de monitoramento, acompanhamento e avaliação das práticas profissionais, atingindo vinte e um hospitais da rede sentinela e sessenta e quatro profissionais de diferentes áreas. A partir da avaliação realizada, concluiu-se que o processo de capacitação possibilitou um maior envolvimento dos participantes na implementação do sistema de vigilância epidemiológica, contribuindo para uma maior qualificação profissional em suas múltiplas dimensões.
