Resumo: This article aims to discuss possible ways for an intervention with families beyond institutional demands in the light of the Historical Theorical and Methodological Fundamentals of Social Work, as well as the professional-political project of the profession. The study aims to reflect about the theoretical-methodological throughs of the category family, beyond the common sense and the reproductions of daily moralities. Seeks to reflect about the historical construction of the normative and theoretical definition of family, articulated with the construction of professional identity and the technical and operational dimension. Based on a bibliographic and documentary research, this article makes considerations for a critical and intersectional theory perspective of family as a form of work (JACQUES, 2017), beyond the logic of adjustment, from the remnants of the Social Work of Case and the eclecticism of epistemological appropriation.

O estudo se propõe, no seu núcleo reflexivo, percorrer os caminhos teórico-metodológicos sobre a categoria família, apreendendo-a para além do senso comum e das reproduções de costumes e moralidades do cotidiano. Busca dar ênfase na reflexão sobre a construção sócio histórica dos direitos e da concepção normativa e teórica da família e a articulação destes processos com a construção da própria identidade profissional e de sua dimensão técnica-operativa.
