Resumo: This article aimed at collecting and discussing the results of researches that emphasized the search for the relationship between phonological disorder, in its various degrees of gravity and levels of intelligibility, and phonological awareness, two subjects that are frequently found both in phonological clinical practice and in scientific investigations in the area of language acquisition. The results of the studies in analysis showed that there is a relationship between the quality of the phonological system and the performance in phonological awareness abilities, and that the phonological awareness abilities have been lower than expected in children with phonological disorders.
