Representation of black women on the covers of the Brazilian version of Glamor magazine: Discourse, image and construction of meanings

Resumo: The purpose of this text is to problematize the discursive construction of the representation of black women on the covers of Glamour magazine (Editora Globo), published between April 2012 and December 2018, through the intersemiotic analysis of statements and images. For this, we discussed racial and gender issues proposed by black feminism (BORGES, 2012; CARNEIRO, 2011; COLLINS, 2017; GOMES, 2012; HOOKS, 2018), and language in the theoretical-methodological perspective of Discourse Analysis (MAINGUENEAU, 2008, 2013, 2015), based on the concepts of interdiscourse and intersemiotic practices. The results showed shifts that point to positive changes underway in the representation of black women, even though the scenario is the predominance of Eurocentric aesthetic standards that subalternize the body that is not white.

Con este fin, discutimos cuestiones raciales y de género, propuestas por el feminismo negro (BORGES, 2012; CARNEIRO, 2011; COLLINS, 2017; GOMES, 2012; HOOKS, 2018), y de lenguaje en la perspectiva teórico-metodológica del Análisis del Discurso (MAINGUENEAU, 2008, 2013, 2015), a partir de los conceptos de interdiscurso y prácticas intersemióticas. Los resultados evidencian desplazamientos que apuntan cambios positivos en curso en la representación de la mujer negra, aunque predominen estándares estéticos eurocéntricos que subalternizan el cuerpo que nos es blanco.O objetivo deste texto é problematizar a construção discursiva da representação de mulheres negras em capas da revista Glamour (Editora Globo), publicadas entre abril de 2012 e dezembro de 2018, por meio de análise intersemiótica de enunciados e imagens. Para tal, discutimos questões raciais e de gênero, propostas pelo feminismo negro (BORGES, 2012; CARNEIRO, 2011; COLLINS, 2017; GOMES, 2012; HOOKS, 2018), e de linguagem na perspectiva teórico-metodológica da Análise do Discurso (MAINGUENEAU, 2008, 2013, 2015), a partir dos conceitos de interdiscurso e práticas intersemióticas.
