Resumo: | Historians, over the decades, have focused on the theme of English presence in Brazil and its role in eradicating the slave trade for the empire. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the conflicts between the English merchants and the British diplomacy about the problem of the Slave Trade, pointing out ways for a more meticulous and critical analysis about the idea of a unified England against the trade in African slaves. This paper consists of four parts. The first one will be a historical contextualization of the operation of England in imperial Brazil, presenting a plethora of academic works about the main theme and showing if they were successful or not on solving the question of the presence of British subjects in Brazil. In the second one will be a demonstration of an example of documentary source that deals with the subject in question. In the third one, theoretical-methodological ways of analysis the disputes of power between English subjects in Brazil will be pointed out for a better analysis of powerdisputes between Englishmen in Brazil, as well as more documentary sources. And, at last, the final part will serve as an attempt of conclusion and harmonization of all the things that were presented in the article. |

Editora da PUCRS - ediPUCRS2019-10-04info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/oficinadohistoriador/article/view/3065110.15448/21778-3748.2019.1.30651Oficina do Historiador; Vol. 12 No. 1 (2019); e30651Oficina do Historiador; Vol. 12 Núm. 1 (2019); e30651Oficina do Historiador; v. 12 n. 1 (2019); e306512178-374810.15448/2178-3748.2019.1reponame:Oficina do Historiadorinstname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)instacron:PUC_RSporhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/oficinadohistoriador/article/view/30651/18564Copyright (c) 2019 Oficina do Historiadorinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessCarvalho, João Daniel Antunes Cardoso do Lago2019-10-04T17:26:53Zoai:ojs.revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br:article/30651Revistahttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/oficinadohistoriadorPRIhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/oficinadohistoriador/oai||tatyana.maia@pucrs.br2178-37482178-3748opendoar:2019-10-04T17:26:53Oficina do Historiador - Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)false |
