This paper aims to analyze the narrative Report of a certain Orient (2008), by manauara Milton Hatoum, made public in 1989. Hatoum’s narrative is shaped based on memories and displacements of marginalized groups, linked to a speech by formation of the Amazon, from the Rubber Cycle, as well as the Amazonian emancipation, in the late 1980s. Leaning on the perspective that the novel chosen for analysis is built on the experience of exile, wandering and displacement, still grounded, In the observation that their local selves are already clothed with global selves, we intend to reflect on the literary representation of these groups, whose collective identity has a negative meaning, sometimes by the dominant culture, sometimes by the collective social orientation.
