Resumo: Terra do Pecado (1947) was the first novel written by Portuguese author José Saramago. The work presents characteristics belonging to the author’s first moment of writing, called by Horácio Costa as his “formative period”. Saramago’s inaugural work resembles Eça de Queiroz’s book, O primo Basílio (1998), with realistic / naturalistic influences. In addition, the representation of the female figure in the work is verified through the protagonists Maria Leonor and Benedita. Using Comparative Literature to relate the work of the Portuguese author with that of Eça, it will be based on the theoretical support of authors such as Horácio Costa, Carlos Reis, Machado de Assis, Paulo Franchetti and others.

Editora da PUCRS - ediPUCRS2020-07-27info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/navegacoes/article/view/3605410.15448/1983-4276.2020.1.36054Navegações; Vol. 13 No. 1 (2020); e36054Navegações; v. 13 n. 1 (2020); e360541983-42761982-852710.15448/1983-4276.2020.1reponame:Navegações (Online)instname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)instacron:PUC_RSporhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/navegacoes/article/view/36054/26163Copyright (c) 2020 Navegaçõeshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessFreitagas, Dayane Aline2020-08-10T18:47:00Zoai:ojs.revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br:article/36054Revistahttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/navegacoesPRIhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/navegacoes/oai||revistanavegacoes@pucrs.br1983-42761982-8527opendoar:2020-08-10T18:47Navegações (Online) - Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)false
