The poetics of the sea: Metaphor of between-place in African Literature

Resumo: This article intends to dialogue with African poetry expressed in the Portuguese language, with the sea as a metaphor for between-places. And, for that, we share our experiences of poetry readers, whose object will be about the text as a pretext of place - whether it is arrival, departure, or even nowhere: “This invitation at all times / that the Sea gives us it makes for evasion! / This desperation of wanting to leave / and having to stay!” ((BARBOSA, 1975, p.22), drawing the Sea as an imaginary homeland. Sailing will almost always unfold some excerpts from the poetry that list, adhere to, or touch the sea as a poetry that reveals the “very same anguish [...] near or at a distance”.
