Contemporary literary production from Rio Grande do Sul (1976-2016)

The text presented here is the result of the research “The literary production of Rio Grande do Sul: a study of the last forty years (1976-2016)”. The authors proposed to map all literary production in Rio Grande do Sul between 1976 and 2016 in the genres/ subgenres: Children’s and Juvenile Literature, Romance/Novel, Short Story, Dramatic Texts, Poetry and Chronicle. This exploratory research with intentional non-probabilistic sample mapped authors with individual printed works and ISBN registration. A chart was elaborated in which the writers (after exhaustive survey in biographical dictionaries, specialized websites, writers associations and literary academies, among other resources) were organized in alphabetical order of surname indicating the literary genre to which they were dedicated. We mapped 939 writers, of which exclusively published: 23,7% poetry; 14,9% children’s/youth literature; 9,6% novel/ novel; 9,3% tale; 6,6% chronic. Of the authors who published in more than one genre we have 35,5%.
