Resumo: | The objective of this paper is to discuss the opinion of students and their academic orientators about the fragilities and the contributions of both for the success of academic production. It is part of a qualitative research developed in the Masters in Education Post Graduation Program at the University of Brasília – UnB. The subjects of the research were twenty-eight students who had already finished their masters and their academic orientators, a total of eighteen. The instruments to collect the data were students’ questionnaires and the orientators were interviewed. The data showed that students and academic orientators do not always have the same opinion about their participation and contribution in the process. Understanding the real meaning of these different points of view is the target of this text. |

Trata-se do recorte de uma pesquisa qualitativa, desenvolvida em cursos de pós-graduação da UnB. O campo empírico foi o curso de mestrado do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram vinte e oito alunos egressos do mestrado, com seus respectivos orientadores, no total de dezoito. O instrumento de pesquisa aplicado ao orientando foi o questionário e, ao orientador, a entrevista. A pesquisa revelou que, nem sempre, a forma como orientador e orientando se apresentam corresponde ao olhar do outro, apesar da identificação de pontos convergentes.
