The relation between neoliberalism and the education quality paradigm

Resumo: The quality standards have permeated most of the discussions in education a few decades. This paper analyzes the constitution of the quality concept, relating it to the genesis and development of neoliberalism. Through bibliographic search, we approached the concept of neoliberalism and its unfolding in Latin America and in the educational field. We find that market practices linked to competitiveness and quality, neoliberal, permeate discussions and educational practices, taking the form of a paradigm. We highlight the neoliberal capacity to impose a lexicon that guides educational practices and policies.

Este artículo analiza la constitución del concepto de calidad, relacionándolo con la génesis y desarrollo del neoliberalismo. A través de la investigación bibliográfica, nos acercamos al concepto de neoliberalismo y su desarrollo en América Latina, especialmente en el ámbito educativo. Encontramos que las prácticas de mercado vinculadas a la competitividad y la calidad, de origen neoliberal, permean las discusiones y prácticas educativas, tomando la forma de un paradigma. Destacamos la capacidad neoliberal para imponer un léxico que oriente las prácticas y políticas educativas.Os padrões de qualidade permeiam boa parte das discussões acerca da educação há algumas décadas. Este artigo analisa a constituição do conceito de qualidade, relacionando-o a gênese e ao desenvolvimento do neoliberalismo. Por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica, abordamos o conceito de neoliberalismo e seu desdobramento na América Latina, especialmente no campo educacional. Constatamos que as práticas mercadológicas vinculadas à competitividade e à qualidade, de origem neoliberal, perpassam as discussões e as práticas educacionais, assumindo a forma de um paradigma.
