Internal policies for internationalization of higher education: A challenge to contemporary university

Resumo: | The theme of the article is the internal policies of internationalization at a community university in the southern region of Brazil. The objective is to raise the debate on internal policies of internationalization of higher education. It is a qualitative research, which used data from a field diary in order to observe the situation of a community university in the southern region of Brazil, according to the stages of the process described by Stallivieri and the dilemmas found in each one. We point out the importance of planning and constant revaluation in the process of internationalization in higher education, in addition to attention to management indicators such as the development of global students attentive to interculturalism, foreign language learning, little investment and scarcity of programs and teacher training systems, cultural adaptation, incentive to network research and internationalization of the curriculum. We verified the relevance given by the institution researched for this topic, however, we indicate the best elaboration of some phases of internationalization and strong monitoring in the main themes: Teacher training; Difficulties in communication (language); Research and curriculum; Cultural adaptation. |

El objetivo consiste en suscitar el debate sobre políticas internas de internacionalización de la enseñanza superior. Se trata de una investigación cualitativa, que utilizó datos de un diario de campo para observar la situación de una universidad comunitaria en la región sur de Brasil, de acuerdo con las etapas del proceso descrito por Stallivieri y los dilemas encontrados en cada uno. Señalamos la importancia del planeamiento y constante reevaluación en el proceso de internacionalización en la enseñanza superior, además de atención a indicadores de gestión como el desarrollo de estudiantes globales atentos al interculturalismo, aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras, poca inversión y escasez de programas y sistemas de formación docente, adaptación cultural, incentivo a la investigación en red e internacionalización del currículo. Verificamos la atención de la institución investigada a este tema, pero indicamos la mejor elaboración de las fases de la internacionalización y fuerte monitoreo en los principales temas: Formación docente; Dificultades en la comunicación (lengua); Investigación y currículo; Adaptación cultural.O tema do artigo são as políticas internas de internacionalização em uma universidade comunitária da região sul do Brasil. O objetivo consiste em suscitar o debate sobre políticas internas de internacionalização do ensino superior. Trata-se de uma revisão bibliográfica de cunho qualitativo. Apontamos a importância do planejamento e da constante reavaliação no processo de internacionalização no ensino superior, além de atenção a indicadores de gestão como o desenvolvimento de estudantes globais atentos ao interculturalismo, aprendizado de línguas estrangeiras, pouco investimento e escassez de programas e sistemas de formação docente, adaptação cultural, incentivo à pesquisa em rede e a internacionalização do currículo.
