Language acquisition: point of view of ecolinguistics

Resumo:  Taking into consideration the fact that language is part of a complex web of natural, mental and social relationships, this article discusses first language acquisition from the point of view of Ecolinguistics. In this case, it begins by presenting a short overview of traditional investigations, such as those by Chomsky and followers, Piaget and Vygotsky. Ecolinguistics sees language as a web of interactions involving at least a population and its environment or territory, forming the linguistic ecosystem or community. Since the central concept of ecosystem is interaction, and language itself is interaction, to acquire a language is to adapt to the ways of interacting inside this ecosystem. Language acquisition is adaptation at large.

Resumo: Levando em conta que a língua pode ser entendida como um complexo processo que compreende relações naturais, mentais e sociais, este artigo discute o processo de aquisição de primeira língua da perspectiva da Ecolinguística. Assim sendo, começa pela apresentação de um breve resumo das investigações tradicionais sobre assunto, como as que surgiram na linha das propostas de Chomsky, bem como as de Piaget e Vygotsky. A Ecolinguística encara a língua como uma teia ou rede de interações que envolvem pelo menos uma população e seu meio ou território, formando o que se chama ecossistema linguístico ou comunidade linguística. Como o conceito central é interação, e a própria língua é interação, adquirir a primeira língua é adaptar-se ao como se dá a interação nesse ecossistema. De modo geral, adquirir língua é adaptar-se.
