Resumo: This article is concerned with the religious experience of a group of people who were persecuted by the Portuguese Inquisition for the practice of “molinosismo”, false ecstasies, visions and revelations, in the early eighteenth century. It approaches the group as a sect or heretical circle, whose conduct was indeed inspired by the mystical doctrine of the Aragonese theologian Miguel de Molinos. It explores the sect’s conceptual and ritual universe and the ways in which it has interpreted Molinos’ ideas.

Se sugiere que se trata de una especie de culto herético o un círculo, cuya conducta, está de hecho inspirada por la doctrina mística del teólogo aragonés Miguel de Molinos, explorando su universo conceptual y ritual, y las formas en que se apropiaron de las ideas del teólogo. O presente artigo analisa a vivência religiosa de um grupo de pessoas acusadas, pelo Santo Ofício português, dos crimes de molinosismo, falsos êxtases, visões e revelações, nas primeiras décadas do século XVIII. Propõe que se trata de uma espécie de seita ou círculo herético, cuja conduta foi de fato inspirada na doutrina mística do teólogo aragonês Miguel de Molinos, explorando seu universo conceitual e ritual, e as formas como se apropriou das idéias do teólogo.
