Resumo: | After the Brazilian independence, liberal ideas were adopted and the hierarchical models of the Old Regime began to be rethought. Although the nobility was incorporated into the new Empire it was not in a peaceful and unchallenged way. Some political groups questioned the existence of the nobility in opposition to the hierarchical model of the liberalism, where there would be primacy of merits, capacities and virtues. In the search for a deep incorporation of liberal criteria, certain political actors, called "exalted" and radical liberals, have incorporated terms such as equality and democracy into their vocabulary. The purpose of the article is to analyze the uses of these terms present in the newspaper Nova Luz Brasileira, attributed to this radical and exalted liberal current in order to establish the views on the social hierarchies present in it. |

Editora da PUCRS - ediPUCRS2021-11-04info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/index.php/iberoamericana/article/view/3905410.15448/1980-864x.2021.3.39054Estudos Ibero-Americanos; Vol. 47 No. 3 (2021); e39054Estudos Ibero-Americanos; Vol. 47 Núm. 3 (2021); e39054Estudos Ibero-Americanos; v. 47 n. 3 (2021); e390541980-864X0101-406410.15448/1980-864X.2021.3reponame:Estudos Ibero-Americanosinstname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)instacron:PUC_RSporhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/index.php/iberoamericana/article/view/39054/27168Copyright (c) 2021 Camila Borges da Silvahttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSilva, Camila Borges da2021-11-17T18:48:18Zoai:ojs.revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br:article/39054Revistahttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/index.php/iberoamericanaPRIhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/index.php/iberoamericana/oaieditora.periodicos@pucrs.br||eia@pucrs.br1980-864X0101-4064opendoar:2021-11-17T18:48:18Estudos Ibero-Americanos - Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)false |
