The origins of the Latin American movement of History of Ideas

Resumo: The present paper compares the contributions of Jose Gaos (1900-1969), Spanish philosopher exiled in Mexico, and Francisco Romero (1891-1962), Argentinian philosopher of Spanish descent, for defining the Latin American intellectual movement of History of Ideas around 1940. The intention is to demonstrate how both philosophers would start a broad and intensive production, organization, guidance, encouragement and dissemination of the study of history of ideas independently and in parallel, initially restricted to the scope of their respective countries.

Se pretende demostrar cómo ambos filósofos comenzarían, de manera independiente y en paralelo, un amplio e intenso trabajo de producción, organización, orientación, incentivo y difusión de los estudios de historia de las ideas, en un principio limitado al ambiente de sus respectivos países.O artigo explora comparativamente as contribuições do filósofo espanhol exilado no México, José Gaos (1900-1969), e do filósofo argentino de origem espanhola, Francisco Romero (1891-1962), para a constituição do movimento intelectual latino-americano de história das ideias, em torno de 1940.
